Heidi Levitt is a Los Angeles-based casting director who has cast a broad array of films, from the Academy Award-winning Best Picture, The Artist, to films directed by Oliver Stone, Wayne Wang, Sally Potter, Wim Wenders, Diego Luna, Kim Nguyen, Victor Nunez and many other auteur filmmakers. Heidi often collaborates as a producer with the directors she casts for, and has been part of the producing team on many films. Additionally, she casts national campaigns and commercials for directors including Jean Pierre Jeunet, Janusz Kaminski, Hank Perlman, David Gelb and Dee Rees.
Heidi’s career in casting began at The Ensemble Studio Theatre in New York, where she assisted casting directors, Risa Bramon Garcia and Billy Hopkins. Heidi has continued to cast theatre in Los Angeles, working with the La Jolla Playhouse and more recently the Center Theatre Group and Echo Theater Company.
In 2010, she created the iPhone App, Actor Genie - an essential tool for actors that details “who’s who” and what’s casting in Hollywood. It has over 70,000 downloads and has been featured on the front page of the iTunes App Store, twice!
Lastly, Heidi is a graduate of Barnard College and the American Film Institute (AFI) where she presently serves as an adjunct professor for both directing and producing fellows. She is also a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as well and the Casting Society of America (CSA) where she has won three Artios Awards for feature film and theatre casting. She is a citizen of Canada, The United States and Switzerland and loves to travel and work around the world.
